Project overview

SmartRent is a mobile-first rental platform that allows users to list properties, search for rentals, and get AI-powered suggestions based on their budget and preferences. Our goal was to create a seamless experience for both renters and landlords, with a focus on clarity, simplicity, and smart filtering.

The Solution

To create a solution that addresses requested needs, I designed a web + mobile platform that is:

Simple mode for all user types
Allows landlords to list and manage rental properties
Help users find listings that match their preference and budget
Offer personalized recommendation using filtering
Make the platform accessible on mobile and desktop

Problem Statement

Renters often struggle to find relevant listings within their budget due to: inconsistent filtering systems, outdated or cluttered listings,
And no smart recommendation system, On the other hand, landlords needed a simple and fast way to list properties without unnecessary friction.

Goal Statement

The goal was to design a budget-aware, mobile-friendly rental platform that reduces time spent on property searches and improves match quality through smart recommendations.

Design Process

I started with low-fidelity sketches focusing on the core flow: capturing soil data and receiving crop recommendations. The design prioritized large touch targets, minimal text, and clear visual hierarchy.

How might we simplify complex agricultural science into an interface accessible to farmers with varying tech literacy?

After validating concepts with potential users, I created high-fidelity prototypes in Figma and conducted usability tests with 5 farmers, iterating based on their feedback.
